„LIFE & Wildlife Crime” publication has been released
Wildlife crime is a serious issue worldwide, negatively impacting several already threatened species. The European Commission also aims to prevent and tackle wildlife crime primarily within the European Union. Many LIFE projects – such as the PannonEagle LIFE – focus on mitigating illegal killing, poisoning, trapping and trade of species.
The ongoing PannonEagle project and the antecedent Helicon LIFE both highlight the direct danger of illegal killing on the vulnerable populations of the Eastern Imperial Eagle. The findings of these projects were carefully interpreted by the authors of this publication and several examples are presented within.
